Synced Lyrics in Mornye: Reading Along With Your Own Files

How synced lyrics work in Mornye: which files show them, what the Now Playing screen does, and how to get more of your library singing along.

Lyrics that keep time

Synced lyrics turn the Now Playing screen into a quiet stage: the current line lit, the next one waiting, everything moving with the singer. In the Mornye for Android, that screen is the one in our screenshots, lyrics line in place under the artwork.

The magic is in the timing data. A synced lyric is not a block of text; it is a schedule, each line stamped with the moment it should appear. When a file carries that schedule, Mornye simply follows it faithfully.

Which of your files qualify

Files with timed lyrics embedded, or a matching lyrics file sitting beside the track, display in sync. Files with plain unsynced text, or none, play exactly as before, without the scrolling lines.

Do not be discouraged if your first scan shows lyrics on only part of the library. Older rips and loose downloads often lack timing data. The albums you bought recently, and anything you have carefully tagged, are the most likely to sing along from day one. Our notes on setting up your first Mornye library cover the neighbouring half of this topic.

Reading along, properly

Synced lyrics reward two kinds of listening. The first is pure pleasure: following a fast verse you have misheard for years and finally getting it right, which every listener deserves at least once per album.

The second is learning. Singing along in another language, line by line, in time, is a gentle tutor. Listeners building a library in a second language tell us this feature quietly becomes the one they open the app for.

Getting more of your library in sync

The reliable route is at the file level: when you add new music, prefer sources that include timed lyrics, and keep lyrics files beside their tracks with matching names when you maintain them separately.

Then rescan and let the library views update. Our file organising guide covers the naming habits that make this painless, and they are the same habits that keep albums and artists tidy, so the effort pays twice. There is more on this in organising music files for Mornye, written from the same test library.

When lyrics refuse to appear

Work through it plainly. Check the file actually carries lyrics by testing a track you are sure about. Confirm the lyrics file name matches its track if you keep them separately. Rescan after any change, since the library view updates on scan, not by magic.

And if one beloved album simply has no timed lyrics anywhere in your copy, forgive it. Some recordings predate the habit, and the music loses nothing by being listened to the old way, eyes closed. That, in the end, is the quiet promise of the Mornye app: your own music, organised your way and treated with respect every time you press play.

Quick Answers

Why do some songs show lyrics and others not?

Only files carrying timed lyrics data can sync. Albums differ because their sources differ; newer and carefully tagged files are the most likely to include timing.

Can Mornye fetch lyrics from the internet?

Mornye is built around your own library and works offline. Lyrics display comes from data in or beside your files, which keeps listening private and available anywhere.

Do lyrics work with hi-res files?

Yes. Lyrics behaviour is the same for lossless and hi-res tracks as for everyday files; the Now Playing screen shows the hi-res badge and the lyrics line together.
